"UWB for audio" AES Europe 2024 round-up and slides
June 15th saw the third "Audio over UWB" workshop presented at AES Europe in Madrid, with speakers delivering a hotly anticipated update on the many developments in the adoption of UWB for audio.
Joining Chair Jonny McClintock were AntennaWare's Dr Gareth Conway and Spark Microsystem's Ted Judge. Topics covered included:
- The potential of UWB for audio use cases that require low latency (sub 5 milliseconds) and Hi Res (24/96) Linear PCM audio
- How the known problems with UWB have been addressed
- The current situation in the market
- How the audio industry can reach scale using UWB
"UWB for audio has moved on in the past six to twelve months to the point that there is a surge of products being launched to the market. Many of the barriers that existed have been addressed, so the only big question that remains is how can the audio industry reach scale with UWB?" Commented panel chair, Jonny McClintock after delivering the workshop to a packed room.
